Five Day Learn to Surf and Adventure

General Info

Surfing is not all just about standing up and at Waves S'cool' of surfing we strive ourselves in educating people about ocean awareness and safety, teaching people about how the wind, swell and tide may affect currents and waves.

This is the proposed tour although your tour can be tailor made to your activities of choice and your preferred budget. The most important thing on this tour is surfing and all tours and activities will be scheduled around premium surfing conditions. This tour is ideal for the beginner to intermediately qualified surfer looking to improve his or her game. The tour is about using my many years of surfing experience to totally focus on improving YOUR surfing and at the same time seeing South Africa in all its beauty.

Overview:

Mossel Bay was nominated town of the year in 2007 and it's a known fact that Mossel Bay has the second mildest climate in the world to Hawaii.

Mossel bay was discovered by Bartholomew Diaz in the 1700's and has been South Africa best kept secret ever since, the town is one of only four coastal towns that faces North and therefore has the warm of the sun from morning to night. There are many natural sights to see on a regular basis including whale and dolphin watching.

Mossel Bay is the first stop on the Garden Route and is often overlooked when driving along the National road. Mossel bay is in fact half way to Jefferies bay and is the ideal for a stop to stretch the legs and have surf. It's also great to see what the swell is doing as "The Point" is a great indicator for J-Bay.

Surfing:

The Point is very unique; it has two waves breaking next to each other, Inner pool and Outer pool. The prevailing wind is South West which is off shore and it also bring swell from Cape Town and the roaring forties.

Outer pool works on a low tide its has an easy take off and a slow tapering shoulder that stands up at bottom section which is often a barrel or big turn section.

Inner pool is a high tide wave and is more of a hotdog type wave, there is a rock half way down the line called peanut butter , so be careful.

Inside the bay we have two reefs that work on different tides, swell directions and sizes. As well as point and the reefs we have a friendly learn to surf beach right inside the bay called Diaz beach.

Then for those that like to explore there are many other beaches and points within 100km radius that will blow your mind depending on swell and wind.

As usual there are some very friendly locals but if you don't show respect you will run into trouble without a doubt.
